Stranded in the Middle of the Sea (Part 2)

So, what’s another good reason to get stranded in the middle of the sea? Your boat runs aground.

Have you heard of a shoal? It’s a sandy bottom that may sometimes rise above water during low tide. For most of the time, it just sits right below the water surface, waiting to lay claim for another unsuspecting boat.

We were in the midst of an island-hopping trip in Pagbilao, Quezon when our boatman had to stop the boat. You guessed it right - we hit a sandy bottom (in the middle of the sea- of course). In this situation, the only solution is to get down and push the boat. That one we did, and it felt very funny. There were three of us guys pushing the boat while our lady companion was on board holding an umbrella. I imagine that the scene was a fluvial procession with her as the saint and us guys as the bearers.
